This elegant antique locket is beautifully decorated with an elegant swirled design to the centre surrounded by flat circles with tiny stars all edged in a balled design. There is an industrial element to this piece popular at this particular time when screw heads and bolts were often portrayed on jewellery.  The tiny stars look like little screw heads. It is quite lovely.

The locket is hallmarked for Birmingham with a date letter i for the year 1883. The makers mark is BL. We have not been able to identify the maker.

The locket opens to show two photo sections. The original silk is still present. There is no glass.

There is a heavy bale to the top. The locket has a strong hinge to the side which works well and the locket closes securely.

There are a few little indents to the back which show clearly in the photo.

The locket is 48mm long x 40mm across. It is 10mm deep. It measures 63mm in total length including the bale.

The locket comes with a more contemporary solid sterling silver chain that complements the locket well. It measures 640mm long and secures with a small parrot clasp. The fancy chain chain is stamped 925.  The locket weighs 19.4gms, the locket and chain weigh 32.3gms.
