This beautiful and extraordinary ring features bright cut clear stones set in a minimum of 9ct rose gold. The stones are beautifully cut and set in such a way that they catch the light beautifully and give the appearance of diamonds.
The stones are most likely paste a high quality form of faceted lead glass used during Georgian and Victorian eras to mimic the brilliance of diamonds. As can be seen they are brilliant.
The setting with its decorative open work under gallery is called a Navette setting which refers to the shape and comes from the French word meaning little ship.
The ring is hall marked in two places to the outside of the band but the marks are so worn it is hard to decipher. From the shape and design and the separate placement of hallmarks we think this may be a French ring.
We have had the ring tested by our jeweller who has found it is a minimum of 9ct gold.
The ring has fleur de lys design to the shoulders of the flat band. The piece is hand made evident by the setting of the stones which uses the gold from the setting pulled up an around to hold them in place.
The ring face is 29mm long x 12mm across. The band is 2mm wide. The ring measures as a size N. It weighs 3.8gms.
