This rare piece of petrolania was made for the D.D.P.A., which stands for the The Danish Petroleum Company Ltd (Det Danske Petroleums Aktieselskab).

It was made by Royal Copenhagen Aluminia Faience and the date stamp for this piece is a bar over the R in Denmark giving a production date of 1940.

This is an early piece and the graphic depicted shows an Esso petrol station with a car of the period.

The bowl is hexagonal in shape and has a deep blue outer glaze with the graphic in sepia.

There s no damage to the bowl and it is a factory first. There is a small lump of ceramic that has adhered to the underside during the firing process but the piece has not been marked as a second.

The bowl is 145mm across and stands 35mm tall.
