This beautiful little lamp is in very good condition.
This piece was designed by Svend Aage Jensen for Soholm ceramics on the isle of Bornholm, Denmark. Many of his pieces are not signed but this design is well known.
It is a small lamp but has an impact due to the sgraffito outer walls with a really lovely hares fur glaze to the top and base sections in purple and blue tones.
The series with this glaze is called Manilla.
The lamp has a small fault to the underside of the base as shown which is only seen when the lamp is picked up. We are of the opinion this occurred in the kiln where a drop of glaze adhered to the kiln shelf and broke away when the lamp base was taken out to the kiln. It looks like it was carefully filed to smooth it out.
The lamp has been rewired to Australian Standards and safety tagged by our electrician. It retains it original bulb fitting. The new cord is gold in colour matching the colour of the ceramic.
The lamp is 120mm to the top of the ceramic and 290mm tall including the shade.
The lamp would be ideal for a bedside, side table, shelf or bookcase.
For International sales the cord will be cut short for new wiring to be installed by your electrician.
