The Luxman L-85V integrated amplifier is a quality Japanese-made model heralding from 1977-78, and is the top model in Luxman's 80 series. It's power output is 80 watts per channel into 8 ohms. This particular unit has been freshly refurbished with work including the rebuild of amplifier boards, electrolytic and tantalum capacitors replaced, adjustment of idle current and DC offset to specification, flaky and noisy switches and controls completely disassembled and cleaned, a faulty relay replaced and new LED power indicator light.
Overall, the cosmetic presentation of this unit is good, but not perfect as might be expected due to age. Its room appeal is none-the-less quite outstanding, featuring a Brazilian Rosewood veneer look to its timber case and a beautifully designed aluminium fascia featuring an impressive array of knobs and controls. Its luxurious look is matched by its luxurious sound, which might be described as warm and refined but authoritative. Very nice indeed. An in-store audition before purchase is welcome.
