This design classic is a genuine vintage piece in very good condition.

The PH 5 pendant was designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen lighting. The three shade design offers diffused light in a mainly downward direction. The way the light is distributed on the white painted aluminum gives a pleasing graded effect as seen in the photos. The concept of diffusing bright harsh electric light was Louis Poulsens' mission and his first experiments began in the 1920's. He developed a multi tiered glare free shade which was exhibited in the Paris World fair in 1925.  It was simply called the Paris Lamp. Luois Poulsen offered an agreement with Henningson and the partnership began. Henningson used the same principals in the Paris design for the rest of his career.   The PH5 was designed in 1958 and was highly influential on the future of Danish Lighting Design. Its name was derived from the 50cm measurement across the shade with the P H being Henningsons initials. The light was designed to be hung low over a table.

The light is white with purple/blue struts and purple blue and red internals.

The light measures 50cm in diameter and around 26cm in height.

The light is in very good condition with some edge wear to the enamel to the very base tier as seen in the photos. This is not noticed in the overall viewing. There are no dents or corrosion spots. The white enamel is clear, clean and without marks.
