This beautiful and elegant set was designed for Grosvenor Australia by Mytton Rodd and is in the pattern Chiltern. This is Rodd pattern and as Rodd took over Grosvenor, some patterns were produced under both names. Silver ware continued to be branded Grosvenor after the take over.
The set has never been used. It has been carefully stored and most pieces were still store cellophane wrapped. The wrapping had deteriorated and we have gently cleaned the pieces and as can be seen they are in pristine condition. The original price tag of $799 remains from when it purchased from John Martins in Adelaide. John Martins closed in 1998. We would date this set to the 1980's. The amount paid was more than the average weekly wage in 1998.
The set has 8 place settings with 8 hollow handled serrated dinner knives, 8 hollow handled entree knives, 8 dinner forks, 8 entree forks, 8 dessert spoons, 8 soup spoons and 8 teaspoons. There are also two large table spoons making a total of 56 pieces.
As mentioned this set is in pristine condition.
