This antique brooch is stamped to the back 826S IR in a circle for silver smith I Rorvig, Slagelse active 1893-1937
The brooch has a green stone cabochon the centre. We think this is Chrysoprase. The style of the brooch is in the form of a lace pin designed to be worn at the ruffle of lace at the throat of high neck dresses of the period.
The back has a silver pin, antique tube hinge and a roll over safety clasp. We are of the opinion the roll over safety clasp is a newer replacement of the old C type clasp. We would date it to around 1900.
There are a few scratches to the green stone surface.
The brooch is 56mm long.
