This elegant antique locket is beautifully decorated to the front and has a plain back.

The back is simply plain with the hall mark for Birmingham and the little letter g in gothic for the year 1881.

The locket opens to reveal a place for 2 photos with celluloid covers. The antique photos inside the locket which appear to be original ( as there is debris around the photo edges from the silver keepers) show a man and woman who we were told were J A Holden (1835-1887) and his wife Mary (1839-1914). James Alexander Holden was a business man in Adelaide founding the company JA Holden & Co in 1863. He and his wife Mary lived in Cambrian Cottage in Kensington, South Australia. It was this company that went on to manufacture the Holden car.

The locket has a large and thick hinged bale. The chain is a new sterling silver chain which secures with a bolt ring closure.

There are multiple shallow indents to the locket on both the front and back. The locket still presents well.

The locket is 45mm long and with the bale measures 60mm long. It is 35mm across. The chain is 510mm long.
