This beautiful setting is in really exceptional condition. The vintage cutlery set features one of Rodd's most popular designs called Camille which was produced in Australia during the 1950's and 1960's. It features an embossed floral patterning to the handles. Each piece is marked Rodd to the back indicating this is a newer set from sometime after the late 1960's. The knives have modern blades and subtle ferrules at the base of the blades.
The pieces are silver plated with stainless steel knife blades and present with only fine and light scratches from storage and/or use. The set is presented in its original canteen and appears little used. There is no damage to any of the pieces and no spotting, flaking wear or loss of silver plate. The plating has a reflective and pristine finish as can be seen. Even the back of the fork tines show no wear. One soup spoon has a small factory flaw to the back in the form of a shallow fissure. This is shown.
The canteen is also in lovely condition and only has a small shiny patch to the top as shown. It is unusual to find a canteen in such good condition. It is timber with a durable blue coating.
The vintage set comprises 8 hollow handled dinner knives, 8 hollow handled entree knives, 8 dinner forks, 8 entree forks, 8 dessert spoons, 8 soup spoons, 8 teaspoons, 8 cake forks, 8 sweets spoons, 8 sweets forks and 2 table or serving spoons. There is a total of 82 pieces.
The canteen was made specifically for an 8 person setting with a lower drawer for additional pieces, in this case the cake forks and sweets set. There is still room for additional pieces in this drawer as they are collected.
