Vintage Silver Marcasite Jewellery

We are passionate about marcasite jewellery and have many sterling and solid silver pieces to choose from in our shop. We are very selective and carefully choose pieces that have genuine age to them. Most of our pieces date to the 1940's with the lastest made in the 1960's. We occasionally have antique pieces from the late 1800's.

Marcasite is a form of iron pyrite cut and polished to a high sheen. High quality marcasite jewellery always has bead set marcasites. This is where a jeweller has used a graver tool to lift tiny tabs of silver from the setting up and over the stones to set them in place. This is a delicate and time consuming task and now rarely used.

We have a range of silver marcasite from all over the world but some of the best was made in Melbourne by Lega. Lega made sterling silver marcasite jewellery from the late 1940's and into the 1950's.

Our selection always includes brooches, earrings, necklaces and watches. Bracelets are hard to find but we do have them from time to time. We find animal and bird themed pieces popular.
