This 6 person cutlery setting is in the pattern Laureate produced by Grosvenor Silversmiths.
Grosvenor was one of Australia's leading manufacturers of cutlery post WW2 and was a house hold name in terms of cutlery settings. This setting is really quite lovely and features a pretty floral design to the finials of the elegantly shaped handles.
This particular set is in excellent condition with no pitting, spotting or corrosion to the high quality silver plate. There are some light surface scratches to some of the pieces from storage but in general the pieces have a mirror finish. We are of the opinion that the set has rarely if ever been used. Most of the pieces are still store wrapped in their original cellophane and came in their presentation box. The cellophane top to the display box is torn as shown.
The knife blades are stainless steel and the dinner knives have a broad serrated blade edge. Each piece of cutlery is marked Grosvenor Laureate to the backs or the blades.
The set is a complete 44 piece 6 person setting, comprising of 6 hollow handled dinner knives, 6 dinner forks, 6 hollow handled entree (or 'dessert') knives, 6 entree (or 'dessert') forks, 6 soup spoons, 6 dinner knives, 6 dinner forks, 6 dessert spoons, 6 teaspoons and 2 large serving spoons.
