This lovely pair of vases is a rarity. It is difficult to find one such piece in lovely condition let alone a matching pair.
The vases are Austro Bohemian in origin and would date to around 1900. From our previous experience, research and viewing of other examples we are of the opinion they are from the workshop of Pallme Konig. The distinctive 'tortured' threading overlay and the rich purple colour all point to this. The vase shape is one we have not seen elsewhere.
The vases have an amazing iridescent quality to the finish with rich purple, blue and green. The green is exceptional being a bright peacock colour. The threading has a slight milky appearance and are random in patterning.
There are no chips or cracks. One vase has some patchiness to the bottom section of the base as shown. This does not appear to be wear but part of the finished glass. There are lines across the threading in one spot, again from the making process when the glass was molten. These are not cracks and as can be seen they are to the surface of the threading. Both vases have a rough pontil mark to the underside of the base.
The vases stand 195mm tall.
