This beautiful brooch is made from brass with rose gold tops and turquoise. The gold is attached like small nails into sleeves around the outer edge which can be clearly seen from side on. The centre of the shamrock is engraved and gilded in yellow gold.
The small turquoise are set around the inner design with a beaded edge and are without fault.
To the back is a 20th Century replacement roll over locking clasp and we are of the opinion the pin has also been replaced. The hinge is original.
To the top of the shamrock is a stem with a small ring, most likely for a safety chain as it does not appear large or strong enough to take a chain.
The 'leaves' of the shamrock are slightly out of round as can be seen from the back.
Inspite of the replacement clasp, this brooch is still a lovely and unusual piece.
The brooch is 31mm x 31mm x 5mm. (not including the pin)
