Vintage Danish Art Pottery Erling & Karin Heerwagen 14.5cm Bird

This beautiful piece was designed y Erling and Karin Heerwagen on the island of Langeland, Denmark. Both worked as individuals in the workshop of famous Danish sculptor Bjorn Wiinblad in the 1960's. In 1968 they married and started their own pottery. Here they created a large variety of hand sculptured unique pieces from the very small to large life like figures, all unique and with an element of quirkiness and fun.

The bird is a unique piece and although they created many birds each is different. They vary in colour, size, shape, position and form.

This particular piece is looking a little to the left. It has a mid blue slip glaze with brown oxide to the beak.

There are no faults with this piece.

The figurine is 145mm  tall x 160mm long. This is one of the larger birds crafted by these two artists.
